What Is THCA?
THCA (tetrahydrocannabinolic acid) is the natural precursor compound to THC found in raw cannabis plants. In its raw form, THCA is considered non-psychoactive.
When exposed to heat, THCA converts into THC through a process known as decarboxylation.

What Is Delta-9 THC?
Delta-9 THC is the primary psychoactive cannabinoid associated with cannabis. It interacts with receptors in the body's endocannabinoid system and can produce effects such as euphoria, relaxation, and altered perception.
How THCA Converts Into Delta-9 THC
THCA converts into Delta-9 THC when heated through smoking, vaping, or cooking. During this process, the THCA molecule loses a carboxyl group, transforming into THC.
THCA vs Delta-9 Legality
Under the 2018 Farm Bill, hemp is defined as cannabis containing less than 0.3% Delta-9 THC. Because THCA itself is not Delta-9 THC, some hemp products containing THCA may fall within federal hemp regulations.
However, state laws may vary and some states have adopted additional restrictions.
